The Valve Body Flow Channel of the Gate Valve
The gate valve
is a kind of valve
which is widely used in the pipeline, and it mainly plays the role of connecting and cutting off the media in the pipeline. The gate valve
can be used to estimate the flow of media according to the moving up and down of the valve stem instead of being used to adjust the flow of media. Compared with other valves, gate valves have a wide range of applications under different working conditions with a variety of requirements on the pressure, temperature, diameter, etc.
Determined by the structure of the gate valves
' body, the connection between the valve body and the pipe or the connection between the valve body and the valve bonnet can be classified into several kinds such as cast connection and forged connection according to different manufacturing methods. The forged valve body has gradually developed into the large diameter one, while the cast valve body has gradually developed into the small diameter one. Any kind of gate valve
's body can be either forged or cast, depending on the requirements of clients and facilities owned by the manufacturers.
The flow channel of the gate valve
's body can be divided into the full bore type and the reduced type. If the bore diameter of the flow channel is basically the same as the nominal diameter of the valve, the flow channel will belong to the full bore type; if the bore diameter of the flow channel is basically smaller than the nominal diameter of the valve, the flow channel will belong to the reduced type. The reduced type flow channel can be further classified into the even reduced type and non-even reduced type. The tapered flow channel of the valve just belongs to the non-even reduced type. The inlet end flow channel's bore diameter of this kind of valve is basically the same as the nominal diameter of the valve, but it will gradually reduce and will reduce to the smallest at the valve seat.
For the reduced type flow channel, no matter it is the tapered non-even reduced flow channel or the even reduced flow channel, it has the advantages of being able to reduce sizes of gates, torque an well as opening and closing force. It disadvantages lie in that it will increase the flow resistance, pressure drop as well as the consumed energy.
