Applications, Advantages and Disadvantages of Globe Valves

The globe valve is a forced sealing valve, so when the valve is closed, pressure must be applied to the valve disc to force the sealing surface not to leak. The friction between sealing surfaces is small during opening and closing, so the valve has the advantages of durability, small opening height, easy manufacturing and convenient maintenance. The globe valve is not only applicable to medium and low pressure, but also high pressure, so it is also one of the widely used valves.

Applications of Globe Valves
The globe valve can be used in most medium process systems. A variety of globe valves have been developed to meet various purposes under various working conditions such as petrochemical, electric power, metallurgy, urban construction and chemical engineering.

Advantages of Globe Valves
1. In the process of opening and closing, the friction between the valve disc and the sealing surface of the valve body is relatively small, which is wear resistant.
2. Generally, the opening height is only 1/4 of the diameter of the valve seat passage, so it is much smaller than that of the gate valve.
3. Generally, there is only one sealing surface on the valve body and disc, so the manufacturing process is good and it is easy to maintain.

Disadvantages of Globe Valves
1. The flow resistance coefficient is relatively large, causing pressure loss.
2. It is not suitable for medium with particles, high viscosity and easy crystallization.
