Selection and Applications of Strainers

Selection and Applications of Strainers

Selection
1. Inlet and outlet diameters of strainers
In principle, the inlet and outlet diameter of the strainer should not be smaller than the inlet diameter of the matching pump, and generally consistent with the diameter of the inlet pipeline.

2. Selection of nominal pressure
Determine the pressure level of the filter based on the maximum pressure that may occur in the filtering pipeline.

3. Selection of hole number
The selection of the number of strainer holes mainly considers the particle size of impurities to be intercepted, depending on the process requirements of the medium flow.

4. Materials of strainers
The material of the strainer is generally chosen to be the same as that of the connected process pipeline.

5. Calculation of strainer friction loss
The water strainer has a pressure loss of 0.52 to 1.2kpa at the rated flow rate in general calculation.

Applications
1. Stainless steel strainers
Stainless steel strainers are widely used in pipelines with various media such as steam, air, water, oil, etc., to protect various equipment, water pumps and valves and prevent blockage and damaged caused by impurities such as rust and welding slag inside the pipeline.
Stainless steel strainers have good stain resistance, convenient discharge, large flow area, small pressure loss, simple structure, small volume, and light weight. The filter mesh is made of all stainless steel, with good corrosion resistance and long service life.

2. Y-type strainers
Y-type strainers are usually installed at the inlet of pressure reducing valves, relief valves, constant water level valves, or other equipment to remove impurities from the medium and protect the normal use of valves and equipment. The Y-type strainer has the characteristics of advanced structure, low resistance, and convenient discharge.

3. Y-shaped telescopic rod strainers
The Y-shaped telescopic rod strainer adopts a new design that combines the Y-shaped strainer with the expansion joint. It has a simple structure and is convenient to use, solving the problem of inconvenient installation on fixed pipelines caused by different flange lengths of different standard products.

4. Basket strainers
A basket strainer is a small device that removes small amounts of solid substances from liquids, which can protect the normal operation of compressors, pumps, and other equipment and instruments. It is also a small equipment that improves product purity and purifies gas. Basket strainers are widely used in industries such as petroleum, chemical, chemical fiber, pharmaceuticals, and food.

5. T-type strainers
T-type strainers are small devices that remove small amounts of solid particles from liquids, which can protect the normal operation of the equipment. When the fluid enters the filter cartridge with a certain specification of filter screen, its impurities are blocked, and the clean filtrate is discharged from the filter outlet. When cleaning is required, simply remove the detachable filter cartridge; dispose of it, and reinstall it, making it extremely convenient for use and maintenance.
