What Are Butterfly Check Valves
The butterfly check valve has a very simple structure and its structure length is very short compared to other check valves. Its connection method is Wafer type. The valve plate consists of two half-round butterfly plates connected by the valve stem, forcefully reset by a spring.
The working principle of the butterfly check valve is: When the medium flows through the valve channel, the pressure of the medium is greater than the force of the spring, pushing open the two butterfly plates, then the valve opens and the medium flows through. When the medium stops flowing, the two butterfly plates are forced to reset due to the force of the spring, and the valve closes, while preventing the medium from back-flow.
The butterfly check valve is also known as Dual Plate Wafer Check Valve, and its sealing surface can be the body welded wear-resistant material or rubber lining, sealed reliably and used widely. The butterfly check valve is an automatic valve, without any manual operation.
Butterfly check valve structural features
1. Compared with other types of check valves, butterfly check structure length is only about a quarter of the flange check valve when given the same caliber. Dual plate WAFER check valves are more suitable with limited space.
2. Compared with other check valves, the butterfly check valve is smaller and lighter, and it is easier to install and disassemble for maintenance in the pipeline.
3. The two-valve plates close quickly and the water hammer pressure is small. The stroke of the opening and closing is short, therefore the impact on the valve plate is small.
4. It can be installed both horizontally and vertically.
